Born in 1983 in Durban, South Africa, and growing up in the quiet city of Pinetown, Craig’s early years were shaped by an enjoyment for English Comprehension as a subject, and a passion for the written word. This led him to excel at writing essays from a young age.

After his Primary school years in Kwazulu Natal, his family relocated to the Gauteng province in 1996, to a town just outside of Johannesburg. After High school, Craig’s thirst for knowledge and drive to establish a meaningful career path and help others, led him to further his studies at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), whereby he majored in Law and Psychology. Even as an undergraduate student, Craig had a fascination with peoples’ minds, with very specific interest in Criminal Law and Psychopathology.

After obtaining his undergraduate university degree, Craig made the decision to complete his postgraduate studies in Psychology, moving forward with his Honors and Masters degrees at the University of Pretoria (TUKS). Aside from his career in the field of psychology, and interest in crime, Craig is also the co-founder of a long-standing metal band, which is currently signed to a USA-based record label. After graduating from university in 2013, Craig was able to devote more time and energy into his passion, oftentimes obsession for music. Aside from his main band, Craig also has a music side project, which he launched in more recent years. He is also an avid music collector.

Craig started out as – and continues to be – the sole drummer and primary lyricist for both of his bands, the longer standing and primary one of which he formed over fifteen years ago with the co-author and lead author of their upcoming debut novel – Sean Towsen. Though a first-time author, Craig injects into their first novel, his first-hand knowledge of psychology and over twelve years’ experience as a practising psychologist, contributing to him becoming an emerging voice in the psychological crime thriller genre.

Hexadecagon: A City on its Knees will be their first piece of work as novelists and new authors, however, it is certainly not the first time this duo are working and writing together on a creative level, nor is it Craig’s first time writing and completing a professional product of the written word:

As a postgraduate student at university, Craig naturally gravitated towards narrative theory and narrative therapy; concepts such as ‘identity’, ‘characters’ and ‘scripts’ only furthered his interest and passion in the written word and for the mental health sector. In fact, submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for his Masters degree (Cum Laude), Craig’s mini-dissertation was entitled ‘Caught between Christianity and the hard rock: A narrative study.’

Today, Craig stands and remains an extremely driven individual – in his career, as a family man and as a musician. And now, in his early 40’s, with writing ingrained in his blood, one can be sure that the hunger which Craig experiences in all other facets of his life will undoubtedly be at the helm for him once again as he begins to forge a new passion and possible second career path, a pen in one hand and a blank piece of paper in front of him.
